We were pleased to welcome the Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, to the Wade offices in Darlington recently.

Ben met with the team and our CEO Danny and Operations Associate Matt Brannan to learn more about the business, our people and our goals for the future too. A lively conversation ensued, with all parties discussing the values of a variety of different construction management methods, but all the while considering the impact they all can have on our landscape and communities.

The Wade way of working is built upon a truly collaborative process during the planning stages that not only mitigates much of the risk traditionally associated with construction projects, but reinforces the security of a chosen supply chain too. Safeguarding not only the client, and the project but also the communities associated with it has long been a priority for Wade, and we are working hard to help the industry adapt and evolve to meet the needs of a changing society.

Ben said, “Fantastic to meet with Darlington-based Wade CMC who are changing the game when it comes to managing huge construction projects. They have recently won a massive global contract with GlaxoSmithKline which will require them to take on over 20 new staff in the next 6 months. It is fantastic to learn about another Teesside firm who are making it big on the world stage. As we accelerate construction on the Teesworks site, and deliver our £1billion transport package firms such as Wade CMC are going to be vital in getting things done on time and on budget. 

Growth is happening here in Teesside, Darlington, and Hartlepool and our local businesses are at the heart of this”.

With the changing landscapes of the Tees Valley and beyond, this meeting was a great opportunity to discuss how the political powers are reflecting and supporting an industry that is on the verge of revitalisation.
